Meet the director

The Director Mariette Rups-Donnelly,
B.A. (Syd.); Cert IV WPT2

Mariette Rups-Donnelly

Mariette is in demand as a guest speaker. She has developed a number of Speaking Topics suitable for conferences, seminars, workshops, dinners, lunches and breakfasts. Drawing on her years of experience as a performer and as a corporate trainer her keynote speeches are a wonderful mix of information, inspiration and entertainment.

Since 2003, under the banner of Powerhouse Presentation she has run a wide variety of workshops around:

  • Essential Presentation Skills,
  • Advanced Performance Techniques,
  • Play and Freeing Workshops

These help speakers release tension and explore the full range of their speaking ability.

Mariette knows what it’s like to stand up in front of an audience. She played lead roles in Evita, A Chorus Line, Annie, Big River, Company, The Seagull, Hamlet, Emerald City, Away, and appeared on television and in film. Concurrently she was teaching tertiary level students in some of Australia’s leading acting schools including Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts, The Actor’s College of Theatre and Television, Sydney; the Actors' Centre, Sydney; The University of Western Sydney; The Sydney Institute of TAFE and in The National Institute of Dramatic Art’s Actor’s Program, Open Program and Corporate Program.

She draws her expertise as a corporate coach from this 30-year career as an actor and as a teacher of the next generation of actors.

During her years of teaching Mariette sat on the course advisory boards of The National Institute of Dramatic Art’s Open Program, The Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts Music Theatre Department, and The University of Western Sydney’s Theatre Department.

As a trainer of actors Mariette had particular expertise in movement and voice. As a movement specialist, Mariette has concentrated on all physical aspects of performance. She is an expert in the use of the body as a performance tool, body language and physical gesture.  As a voice specialist she works with presenters, singers and actors on the interrelationship of the voice and the body, helping them find authenticity by releasing and reinforcing this connection.

She has adapted this broad range of skills to the sales and presentation needs of the small business and corporate worlds.  Her clients particularly value her understanding of how to use the voice and body to create maximum impact.

When you break it down, it’s all performance – the most important aspect is that you speak from your ‘authentic self’.
